What May Befalled APC After President Buhari Tenure Is Over In 2023-Osinbajo

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, while receiving a delegation of the All Progressive Congress National Youth Lobby Group, at the Presidential Villa, said that the party may suffer in 2023 because of Muhammadu Buhari's absence on the ballot.

According to the report, the Vice President told the APC youths that the party should not expect to have an easy ride to victory in the 2023 general elections.

Yemi Osinbajo said that the absence of Buhari on the ballot would mean that the APC will not get all the votes.

He said that the major reason why the APC is winning elections now is because the party has a president who is popular and attracts votes.

This statement could not have been said better than this, the APC must wake up and work hard if they want to win elections in 2023. The leadership of the party must realize that many people voted for the APC because of President Buhari.

Now that the president will not be contesting in 2023, they should not expect to get all the votes any longer. With this in mind, the leadership of the party should do the two things below to help the party in the 2023 general elections.

1. Choose a credible and popular presidential candidate

The leadership of the APC must take time to examine whoever they will likely give the party's presidential ticket. The major reason many Nigerians voted for President Buhari was because he had no previous corruption record. He has always been known as a man who hates and fights corruption, that was why he was preferred over other candidates. The APC leadership should ensure that they chose a credible and popular candidate if they want to record tremendous success in the 2023 presidential election.

2. They should build the structure of their party at the grassroots level

Just like the Vice President advised the youths during the visit, the leadership of the APC must get to the grassroot and ensure that their structure is well-rooted. They must build a strong membership base right from the grassroots, the party's presence should be felt at the grassroot. They should mobilize their members at the grassroots level to grow the party's membership base fervidly. This will help them to get maximum votes in the 2023 general elections.
